The History of Ridanflight so Far
The Affix Ridanflight was registered with the Kennel Club in the late 1970's by Steve Rose. Steve's interest in dogs and eventually showing had begun in early childhood. His first Best of Breed win was aged 14 showing a Labrador bitch who's dam was sired by the Famous Sh Ch Sandylands Tandy. Whilst collecting his 2nd Labrador puppy soon after, he noticed a black & white pointer bitch - Luneville Princess Poi. Watching the effortless way she covered the ground, a lifetimes fascination and love of the breed was born.
After some early setbacks in establishing consistently the type he wanted, fate intervened when a trip to a show and a chance discussion with Jock Mackay (Woodglade) resulted in Steve & Pam bringing home a 6 month old daughter of Sh Ch Jasmorne Democrat. She became Sh Ch Woodglade Bright Orchid at Ridanflight (Jodi), winning 7cc's, 5 rcc's as well as Best of Breed at Crufts and a Res Group winner in 1991(Now classed as Group 2) and a Champion Stakes Finalist. As a brood she produced in 2 litters when mated to Sh Ch Hilldon The Joker the Show Champions Ridanflight Razzmatazz, Rhyme N' Reason, & Right Said Fred, as well as other CC & Rcc winners including Ridanflight Prize Girl & Ridanflight Ragamuffin......and for a final litter Jodi was mated to Sh Ch Adstock Jacobite producing the Rcc winning Ridanflight Ritzy at Leasecliffe.
Then Pennine Posterity at Ridanflight (sired by Fred) joined the kennel From Gordon & Linda Pimblett (Hilldon/Pennine ),she was successfully campaigned to 1cc & several res cc's quite young but we sadly lost her with a tumour at an early age.
One or two litters followed and did well in the ring and it was decided an outcross was needed to this well established line and Hawkfield Capsicum at Ridanflight (Ellie) joined us as a yearling from Wendy Gordon (Hawkfield), with the intention of mating her to one of the Ch dogs Raz or Fred.......This plan didn't materialise and Ellie was mated to Peakdale Fletcher, and producing in her 1st litter the Championship Show winning....Ridanflight Ruben,R Rioja,R Romero at Dorbury, R Romano, R Roxy &R Roulade at Esrews
In June 2006 Steve mated Ellie to the newly imported Aust & Nz Grand Ch & soon to become Sh Ch Chesterhope Lets Be Serious at Kanix, 10 o/w puppies were born in August .
In 2007 the pups from this mating made exciting starts to they're careers with 6 of them in the ring winning Ch Show 1st prizes, BPIB, BPIS at Breed Club Ch & Open Shows,Puppy Stakes, Puppy Group & RBPIS at Birminghm National Ch Show
2008 & 2009 saw Ridanflight Rangiora & Ruahine win Rcc's & Rockhampton win his 1st CC & BOB
2010 was spectacular year with Rangiora starting the year by winning the RBCC at Crufts & both Rangiora and Rockhampton both gaining they're titles the same week and winning 11 CC's & 8 Res CC's between them both gaining a Championship Show Gundog Group 2, making Rangiora TOP POINTER BITCH 2010 & also putting Rockhamton in the Top 4
